Chen Bing, Area Director Southwest China, British Council

We observed that Mr. CHEN Bing has been promoted to Area Director Southwest China, British Council. Congratulations to Mr. Chen, who has broken through a British glass ceiling in cultural and commercial diplomacy stage of China.

Chen Bing joined the British Council in June 2006 as a Senior Education Manager, leading on the delivery of a wide range of education, science and society projects across Southwest China. Later he took on the roles of Assistant Area Director and Head of Education Partnerships for Southwest China, helping to create partnerships and promote knowledge exchange between the UK and Southwest China. In this month (September 2016), he was appointed as Area Director Southwest China of the British Council. It was the first time that a Chinese has taken up this post.

Prior to joining the British Council, Chen Bing had years of experience in China’s higher education sector, supporting institutions with their internationalisation strategies and creating international opportunities for students and academic staff.

Chen Bing won Chevening Scholarship 2004-05, and got his second Master’s degree in Comparative Education from Institute of Education of the University of London.

And according to the British Council website, in his spare time, Chen Bing enjoys seeing films, listening to music, and jogging.
